I bought a used Matrix from a small dealership, fall 2012. He sold me a 'great warranty, best ratings, longest running warranty company in the country, accepted by every automotive shop'. Paid 1500.00 (?) or so for this warranty. Never received any correspondence from company; no handbook, warranty deeds, outline of terms covered, etc. Just the single paper contract with little info. called company multiple times; no answers, got voice mail run around, and was able-2x- to leave a message requesting actual company info and warranty info. Never once received any contact whatsoever. Got so concerned, I called my dealer back up, who actually placidly assured me that there was no problem, that they absolutely are reliable, and are very well known, which is why they only need a single contract with a phone contact.
well, in Nov.2012, had a problem. Called the company. Could not get hold of anyone. Kept going to robo messages. Went to Sears for advice. They had never heard of this company and tried to contact them. No answer. Only a voice mail system. They didn't work on the car, b/c they didn't want to inadvertently void my contract, but luckily, problem was a a simple sensor shut off trigger. However, took car into Toyota repair dealer today. Car needs about 700.00 work for a leaking axle. Toyota calls P.A.S. and is told in 30seconds that they 'don't cover repairs/replacements of materials if they have any holes or damage to the part'. Well, gee, after 58k miles, the normal wear and tear of this part can cause a soft spot that leaks oil, and that spot gets bigger, and wears out, creating a hole, the more it goes untreated. No one could tell me how long that axel had been leaking; I have only owned the car for 8 months. It is quite possible and probable that this is a pre-existing problem that was passed on to me by this **** dealer and **** Warranty company. I am a single mom with 2 kids who teaches. I am on a extremely fixed income and cannot fix this problem. I truly do not know how to find the money for this repair. To Make matters worse, the brakes, alignment, & battery need to be replaced and the a/c cabin filter and door were missing altogether. I had read an article in late Dec about the myriad complaints against this company. I truly thought it was a case of sour grapes from consumers.Yeah, no. Knowing that I played by the rules and in good faith just makes me ill. Forget 'broke'; I am actually worried about the safety of my kids if I can't find a way to fix this problem....
