I thought I was calling McAfee technical support. The link on google was very misleading. I called the phone number and they asked to remotely access my computer. They ran some scans and claimed that my computer was on the verge of crashing. They claimed that my computer would crash by tonight if I didn't let them help me. Then they made their sales pitch. One year of service $169.99, 2 years 299.99, 3 years 399.99. They claimed to be miracle workers who would have my computer running like brand new and I could call them 24/7 if I needed anything at all. Frightened by the news that my computer was crashing and thinking I was dealing with an honest business, I opted to pay for the one-year service plan. They claimed they would have my computer fixed in 30 minutes, but it took several hours. After everything was done, my computer was running slower than ever. I paid another 40 dollars and bought SpyHunter 4, which found hundred of viruses and spyware on my computer. I'm convinced that Guruaid purposely made my computer worse. They are not an honest business, and the more I research them, the more people I find who had similar experiences to mine. I'm just glad I don't do online banking so their programs weren't able to find anything valuable on my computer to steal. I'm utterly shocked at how extensive this scam is. Guruaid seems to have hired many people to leave rave reviews for them online, on facebook and even in online message boards. I'm convinced that if they are investigated and someone digs a little deeper, they will find one of the biggest scams in history. Guruaid must be stopped.
