We purchased several thousand dollars in landscaping supplies from Angelo’s Supplies, Wixom Michigan facility this year; 15 pallets worth of brick and stone plus soil and compost. We were charged deposits for 9 pallets. After completing the job I gathered together the 15 pallets and called to find out what I had to do to return them for the deposit. I was told to gather the ones with Fendt and Oaks names on them and bring them in. I was told those were the only ones that were valid. When I went out to put them in the car I only found 6 with Fendt and Oaks names on them. I took pictures of the stack of pallets I had. Since I could only fit 6 in my car I put them in the car and returned them. I explained to the clerk that we were charged for 9 but the others either said Quickcrete (1) or Pallentine (1). The latter in very bad condition. The clerk said, ‘don't worry about it just bring in any and all we had and we would be reimbursed for the remaining three’. I put 5 in my wife's car and she went to Wixom to return them because I was out of town. They told her that only 2 were valid and that they wouldn't reimburse her for the third one. She explained that the others didn't have names on them as I had explained to them the previous week.
The clerk that was attending her accused her of trying to cheat them and started loudly ridiculing her in front of all the clients and clerks in the store. The clerk was yelling at her and chanting over and over that she was a cheater, 'You are a cheater. You are a cheater, we don’t want your business“. She told the clerk that was screaming to get away from her and she moved down the counter to talk to another clerk but he followed her screaming at her that she was a cheater louder and louder. She kept telling him to stay away from her, just to give her the refund for the two pallets so she could leave but the clerk just kept following her and screaming at her. Another clerk finally processed the refund for two pallets. She literally ran out of the store in tears completely traumatized. My wife is Hispanic and speaks English with an accent which we suspect had a lot to do with the treatment she received.
