From XXXXXXXXXXX: Bell Mobility client for seven years, faithful payment record. Over the past seven years I was a Mobility customer. I received reasonably good service and was generally well treated. Certainly the service was better than the big T. Last spring I was informed my rate plan arrangement was no longer available. So, I negotiated a different rate plan. I have had no new phone or hardware purchase through Bell for many years; simply mobile phone service.

In May, Virgin Mobile offered me a much superior rate plan. As I have no outstanding obligation to Bell, I switched to Virgin and have been very happy with rates, service and attitude. I paid my final month with Bell, (did not receive a refund for the month that is always charged prior to using the upcoming billing period.) After my account was paid out I received a "Final Bill" from bell with an extra $100 charge. I do not owe for equipment or service. There is no contract between Bell mobility and myself. Yet, Bell Customer "Service" clams they have the right to fine me $100 because I did not stay with Bell for 1 year after negotiating a new rate, a situation that was precipitated by Bell. (I was 2 month's short of 1 years since the last rate change from Bell.)

I believe this to be illegal, high-handed and completely unsupportable in court. There is no mention of time limited contract in any bill received, no paper or electronic copy of a contract has been sent to me. They claim to have a "verbal contract". I would never agree to a penalty-based contract for cell phone service. I ask you to produce ANY contract where I have agreed to a $100 fine for termination of service; or immediately clear the $100 false charge.

After seven years of being Bell's customer I was given an inferior rate plan and when I found something better, Bell attempts to steal $100 from me by fraudulent billing and intimidation. I have been unable to get action beyond your first level of powerless service people and failed to receive promised callbacks from people with authority to remove this charge. I will continue to communicate and publicize this practice of unauthorized, illegal and fraudulent charges until you reverse the charge and repair/remove any damage to my credit ratings because of failure to pay your fraudulent charge.
