My wife and I bought a sofa and sliding recliner on in March, 2011. At the time, we also purchased the GOOF PROOF protection warranty because we were pregnant with our now 2 year (almost 3) old daughter. Anyways, I explained to Matthew @ Guardian the issue we had recently in which our daughter got a hold of a marker and proceeded to mark up the couch (and a small part of the recliner) over the weekend. Matthew then proceeded to tell me that this would not be covered under warranty because it’s not an “accident” and it could have been prevented… WHAT!? What part of a 2 year old getting ahold of a marker and writing on the couch is not an accident!?!? He also claimed that because the marker was on the two separate couches, it was deemed “excessive”??? WHAT?!

First of all, we bought GOOD PROOF for both the couches – so each couch should be covered separately. Whether they both happened at the same time or one year after the other, BOTH COUCHES should be covered separately. This is so ridiculous. He also tried to tell me that marker wasn’t covered on this warranty – a BLATANT lie since http://www.mybobs.com/goofproof/terms this shows that markers ARE COVERED. At the same time, however, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON THESE TERMS that say anything about what is “excessive” or “can’t happen to two pieces of furniture” or anything like that at all. So how can someone tell me this while it’s not part of the contract!?

This has been about one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a store.. its truly very disappointing cause up until now, we have been satisfied and considered going back there to get a bedroom set.. not anymore though..
