This company lures freelancers from sites like Elance (Elance actually has policies in place that encourages their behavior) hiring for sales people with promise of commissions for closed sales.

Once you begin work you get a meager hourly wage, with the reason being that "Elance policy requires us to only provide a salary, and that sending commissions at a later date is "how we typically pay our people".

Every month or so the Director fires programmers and graphic designers, many of which have weeks of pay they have yet to receive. He always finds some lame excuse about the employee not taking care of customers or doing some other terrible thing (like being sick and unable to work) then fires them and tells them he doesn't have to pay them because they haven't done the work "as expected" in the contract.

I fell for the ruse for 2 months, patiently waiting for commission monies that were never forthcoming. In fact I had to force Elance just to try to ensure I received the measly hourly wage. After further investigation I realized that I was one of many this has happened to, and the numerous job openings on Elance alone (with 1-2 month turnover for the same position) made it quite clear what they were doing.

I find Elance just as culpable in this case, but because I was hired as a freelancer, complaints against Website Designz were the only recourse. Being out of state (and apparently incorporated in more than one state) attempting to sue or file complaints directly were nearly impossible. In the end I simply gave up.
