Signed up for Christian Mingle dating site in January 2013 for 6 months. I gave Christian Mingle my credit card information and authorization to make a one time withdrawal of my checking account in the amount of 83.74.

I used the website for a few months and then discovered my pictures have been deleted and became frustrated with the site anyway and stopped using it. I only signed on to look at e-mails. If someone sent me a message I would tell them I have to send a picture to an alternate address outside the site because my pictures had been deleted. The website simply had issues and the customer service and usage was cumbersome.

Furthermore, a few months later i discovered the site did not offer the services I wanted or desired anyway so I would only log in once in a while to look at e-mails or smiles another user may send to me.

I just wanted my 6 month membership to run out in July 2013, delete my profile, and not use the website any longer.

On July 15th my checking account had $83.74 withdrawn from it by ChristianMingle.com, I did not give them authorization to withdraw, take, or steal my money. I immediately contacted them by email from the website to have my checking account reimbursed. And they responded, "absolutely no refunds". They went on to indicate that i will be forced to use their site, even though the product they have has no use for me. I gave them adequate warning that I do not want their product but ChristianMingle.com is forcing me to purchase a product that I do not want and that is no use to me.
ChristianMingle.com is violating consumer protection laws.

Hopefully I will get reimbursement of my checking account in the amount of $83.74.

Not sure where the company is located I filed one complaint in California https://www.dca.ca.gov/webapps/complainthelp/online_complaint.php and another in Utah https://www.dca.ca.gov/webapps/complainthelp/online_complaint.php

  • When I joined the site, I took extra precautions to ensure my card would only be charged once for the initial 3 month membership. I immediately unchecked the auto renew tab on my settings (Which I took a screen shot of), then I marked on my calendar the date my subscription would end and made a point of canceling my membership 2 weeks before that date. I received a confirmation email from Christian Mingle showing that I canceled (July 28, 2013), yet even with all that, they charged my card (Aug 19, 2013) for $56.97. I went to the site to find a customer service number (which of course they don't list) only an email address. So I emailed them knowing that wouldn't resolve my problem. I then contacted my bank and filed a dispute. What I discovered is that once a company charges your card online, they have an 800 number connected with that charge. So my bank gave me the number and I called Christian Mingle directly. They gave me some story about having a new billing system and apologized for the charge. I told the rep to hold a moment while I place a 3 way call to my bank. Once my bank was on the phone with me and Christian Mingle, we were able to resolve the matter and the charge was reversed. However, in order to finish the call I had to leave the conversation while the bank spoke with CM to get their merch ID #, ETC. Basically, I muted myself from the call, since my hanging up would have disconnected all 3 of us. So to anyone out there dealing with this same issue, you don't have to wait to get your money back. Do it the same day just as I did. I hope this helps.
