I am filing this complaint because I think the business it making too much money off of customers. They were not specific about their practices.
I went to www.thredup.com and ordered a bag. When the bag came, I put my son's clothes in it. I read the fine print and followed every direction exactly. I only put clothes that were gently used - no piece of clothing was worn more than a few times. All clothes were freshly washed and folded. There were no stains, tears, or other signs of wear. I put 50 pieces of clothing in the bag. I had to wait months because they were backed up. Then I received an e-mail about how much they bought. They only gave me $1.75 for 50 pieces of clothing!!! I cannot put into words how mad and upset I am. They only bought 2 pieces of clothing from me. The other 48 pieces were donated - I have no idea to who or what. I did understand that they would donate the unacceptable clothing to organizations, but I followed every single requirement fully. I have a big problem that 48 pieces out of 50 were unacceptable. I only sent them name-brand items: Polo Ralph Lauren, Osh Kosh, Gymboree, Carter's, etc. I e-mailed the company and they said that I clicked the box that gave me the option to have unpurchased clothing returned for $9.99. I do not remember this, but I cannot say that I didn't do it, either. However, I feel that out of 50 excellent, clean, well-kept, name-brand clothes, it's ridiculous to have them only buy 2 things for $1.75. I don't mind the fact that some of my son's clothes were donated, but I want to know why 2 pieces were good enough and 48 were not. That's a crazy ratio!! I have organizations at my home that I would have much rather donated to. I'm very upset and want this company to answer for what they've done to me. They are aware of my problem and we have e-mailed back and forth. They said, and I quote, they were "sad" about my experience. They offered nothing in return. I should have taken pictures of all of the clothing, but it's too late to do that now. I want this company to pay for what they took from me. I don't want other hard-working families to lose that much because of a company out to make a buck. Please help me to stop this company!!
