Yesterday I recieved a call from 'samantha reed' saying that I'd entered a competition a while back do I remember? To which I replied no and she said I probably wouldnt it was a bit ago but it was to win a mini or a grand or an iphone and could I confirm my details for the competition entry which all happened to be right and I stupidly told her this.
Anyway she then went onto tell me I was one of 100 who been selected to enter a syndicate for the national lottery and euro millions which for three months they would buy a couple of hundred lines for and they win EVERY week. The winnings are split in the sydicate and everyones happy and if you like it you can continue in the syndicate for 5p a line or walk away free of charge.
She then started talking about a fee of £44 which confused I asked what is the £44 for youve just said everythings free and she said dont worry you dont have to pay anything till november the something... I have no intention of paying anything and I still didnt know what for, I dont know why I didnt just hang up.
She then said all they need to join the sydicate was my sort code and account number which I was quick to lie about and said I didnt have access to. She tried to tell me that all people at the same branch would have the same sort code and different account number - if thats true she wouldnt need my sort code but I dont know if it is. She seemed desperate to convince me that its safe to share my sort code and account number and asked how many years I've had my account for. She even suggested I go online and get it off an online statement as I said I wasnt at home and had to keep saying I dont have wifi and shes ringing me on my mobile so I said could she call back at the weekend (thinking theyd be shut) and she asked to ring tomorrow at 12 which she did very promptly and Ive just ignored the call. I'm not sure how many more calls Im going to get yet but I highly doubt the welcome pack will exist to arrive on the 20th as she said. If it does I will share the info online. Its a scam and a waste of time and I was so close to falling for it but Ill never give bank account details to anyone so think that saved me. Hope nobody loses money to them but Im sure they will sadly. Below is the info she gave me which is silly cause it comes up as a scam
