I purchased all new windows and doors for my house in 1997 and I was confident in buying Andersen based upon their reputation. Two years ago I found the outside panel of my sliding patio doors bulging. I complained to Andersen but got no where because my "parts" warranty had expired! The outside of the door is considered a "part"? when the resolution was to replace the whole door to the tune of $600+ dollars? Not right. Anyway, yesterday I was cleaning my sliding bedroom windows when I noticed that the interior "finish" was pealing! I thought I had purchased wood windows and when I spoke to a rep at the company, she assured me that the window sash was supposed to be solid pine! Well unless my eyes totally deceive me, this is NOT solid pine but some kind of veneer or laminate finish that is now pealing off the window. The rep said that the "part" warranty had expired and that to replace the window sash would be $400+ dollars. Really?????? I complained to the rep and she insisted that I must have water logged that interior joint and that the wood must be splintering. Really??? How do you water log an interior window joint and don't you think I know the difference between a pealing finish and wood splintering??? I sent a picture to customer service and have not received a reply yet. Can you help me get this window replaced at no charge?
