  • The telephone number given by them: 1-888-964-4442 has been disconnected. Their web page presence www.archives.com is reporting itself (by inspection of html code) as dead. Searching for bankruptcies and other possible legal actions did not reveal anything pointing to the company. The posting by someone claiming to be a representative of Archives with a phone number may or may not be valid. The phone number they posted (1-888-964-4442) is not working. Recommend contacting your CC issuer and disputing the charge. If you used a Debit Card you are screwed and only way out of that is to cancel the card and get another number. I'll investigate more and attempt to find the name and location information for the person or persons unknown who operate this company.

  • More information. The address where Scambook mailed a certified letter complaint was Archives.com a letter, via Certified Mail, to P.O. Box 391146 Omaha NE 68139. This is a "blind bulkmail" post office box located at a bulk mail shipping and receiving warehouse. You can view it on Google Streetmaps by putting in the PO Box into Google. Google will return a large number of various mail order and computer based "businesses" listed to that PO Box. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just means that the next step for finding the ANC folks is going to the Secretary of State for Nebraska and unearthing the corporation listings and "Registered Corporate Agent". I'll do that next and get back here.

  • The Nebraska Secretary of State web site does not return any listing for a corporation or LLC with the name "ANC" or "ANC Archives" or "Archives", either when searched for active or for inactive companies. It may be that ANC is registered in another state (probably Delaware) and is operating in Nebraska as a "Foreign Corporation" which requires only that the company file a letter with the Secretary of State's Office and pay a fee. This is a common practice particularly when trying to obfuscate the actual owners and/or operators of a company.

  • A representative of ANC posted this: " ... If you haven't already, please call us at 1-888-896-4442 and we will be happy to look into this issue for you. ..." Notice that the telephone number 1-888-896-4442 is not the same number as previously listed (which was 1-888-964-4442). When the "new" number was attempted, an "out of service - message number 4501" was heard. When searched using investigative tools, both numbers appear to be listed to a variety of "Ancestry" and "Family Tree" activities.
