I was in the process of moving from Northern Michigan to Minneapolis to be with my boyfriend. I was super pleased when I found an ad on Craigslist for a 2 bedroom house with a Garage with all utilities included for $600. I should have known it was too good to be true. My boyfriend and I having awful credit were so excited there was no credit check. One of the first emails she sent me said "the,house belong to me and my husband (Mr & Mrs A Thompson), we just relocated to MI to complete my husband late parent house in Gaylord. we are a very loving person, and i assure you will enjoy staying in our house with a lot of comfort. However, you can still inspect and move in while we are away, if you really have interest to move in, All i have to do is to get the keys to you via DHL courier service. Rent: $600 per Month Security Deposit: $500 It will be returned back to you whenever you intend to move out. Minimum Stay: As long as you wish". When I forwarded it to my boyfriend I was so excited and he said "I don't know something doesn't seem right". She then sent me an email saying " A payment of $1100 will be sent to via MONEY GRAM TRANSFER .(You are advise to walk or drive down to a nearby money gram agent grocery store or wall-mart to send the payment)". She then provided me with the name and address of some random guy. Something was fishy and I still was in la-la land hoping this was the real deal and I was just over thinking it. Being cautious I asked her to send me over a copy of the lease to look at before I paid her any money. Red flags went up when the lease was sent over and said Mr. & Mrs. Thompson at the top. Getting freaked out we googled the house and did some research on who owned the house when it was last sold just to be sure anyone with the last name Thompson owned it. We discovered the house was on zillow for rent for $1200 a month.

Every single photo on zillow were the photos she sent me. Not to mention she had mentioned she owned the house for 10 years and didn't want to part with it when Zillow says the house was sold in 2005. I had a lawyer look at her lease and she confirmed it was a fake lease. The last email I sent was informing her that I was aware she was a scam artist I had already reported her and every name sent to be to craigslist and the police.

I'm sure she has scammed tons of people using the same name so beware!
