Despite being featured on Elle.com, do not use BYCO for your sample making, manufacturing, etc. They will miss your deadlines, ignore the timeframes described on their website, and overall let you down. BYCO is a company ran by a brother and sister -- however, aside from connections to Chinese factories that allow them to produce on the cheap, this is not your typical "family" business, with generations of hard work and success. My order was a week late and at that point only 33% complete. The remainder was delivered another week late and still was missing 10 units -- with no offering of a discount, etc. In addition, bespoke samples that were ordered a month a go with a quoted turn around of 3-4 weeks were never fulfilled. A the end of 4 wks the materials were returned to me in a box -- nothing had been cut even. It was hard to say if the materials had even ever been sent out. Had I been aware that BYCO was not going to even ATTEMPT to make these samples I could have contracted someone else to do it. The price is right but the professionalism is not. You get what you pay for -- and in this case it's a duo who don't even have the corporate know-how to get on the phone, or send an email, informing their customers that their product is late... or that they are not making it. Can I really believe they had no clue for the last mth that none of these bespoke samples had been cut or sewn... not until the moment they were due? Just be warned -- if it's too good to be true, it probably is!

Also, their website says they can produce in NYC -- this is false. Once I engaged with them they clarified that they only produce in Shanghai, so basically this blurb on their site is a lie:

"WHERE DOES BYCO PRODUCE?
BYCO has studios in New York and Shanghai.

For those designers who want to produce in the USA, BYCO offers the option to price their production with our New York studio. "

Everything will be made in Shanghai and that leads to shipping delays, etc. Their "NYC studio" is actually an 6 ft x 8 ft office in a shared furniture and homegoods showroom. There is no sample making occuring there.

I am happy to warn new designers or even men and women seeking custom clothing -- go elsewhere. Stay local!
