I received a letter from a collection agency names Umbrella Recovery representing Family Readers Choice. The letter stated I owed this money back from December of 2005. The form letter had typos in it and had no specific information regarding the subject transaction. It also stated if I pay up within 30 days I only owe half the stated amount.
A first notice for colelction on a transaction from 8 years ago. They had my information and I did have a ligit transaction from 2005 but the magazines were canceled and I have the letters and old bank statement showing a credit after I canceled.
I suppose I'll have to get an attorney and notify local authorities maybe even federal since this is an interstate scam ...
