My wife and I decided to honeymoon in Biloxi Mississippi after being married on "leap-day" 2004. Before our wedding day we went online to find hotel arrangements. We used Hotels.com (the one you see advertised on TV) to find what we thought was a good deal on the website. Back in 2004 people were still a little afraid of using Debit card information online, so we found a package then called the number to pay for it, instead of entering it online. Nevertheless, we still got ripped off very badly. Our arrangements were to stay at the Imperial Palace Casino while we were there. We arrived in Biloxi and checked in just fine. After getting settled I went to the ATM to check the balance on my wife's Debit card. Instead of being in the positive several hundred dollars... we were in the negative over $350. We immediately called the bank. They showed our debit of Just over $100 for 2 days at the Imperial Palace in Biloxi. They said they showed another charge for the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas for over $700. We told them we didn't make that transaction. Anyhow, after spending many hours filing police reports and getting notorizations at the onsite notary public for the bank to investigate, we found out that someone at Hotels.com took our debit information and booked a room at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas at about $350 per night. We just had enough money in our pockets to pay for gas back to Tennessee. Needless to say we ended up staying the night and going home the next morning. The casino in Vegas refused to give us any information at all about who made the charges. They said they couldn't give out guest information. I told them we were the damn guests and someone is using our room. Still no help from them either. In the end the bank took over and we have no idea what ever became of it all. They handled everything from there and credited our money back the next day but we had already came home. Hell of a honeymoon!
