This person was interested in buying an item from my online store. He offered to have it picked up by a private courier. The courier would only accept payments through Western Union. The scammer said he was at sea and couldn't go to a Western Union office to make the payment, he would transfer the money into my PayPal account instead.
I then received a fake PayPal notification sent by the scammer. (and of course he hadn't transferred anything into my account)
I then played along with him, just to see what would happen. I told him to go to a Western Union office several times to collect the money. He's still in touch with me, asking me why I haven't transferred 'his' money yet.

Now what infuriates me the most is the way the Manila police/NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) handled this. I literally have been trying to warn them about this person for 2 weeks and people just hang up the phone or keep putting me through to non-existent numbers. I've sent tons of emails with information about the scammer and not once did I receive a confirmation. Absolutely disappointing and unprofessional. Try calling the Manila police or NBI if you want to file a report, it's just hilarious!

The one time I finally got hold of someone at NBI, I was told that maybe he would look at the case (some day? in the near future?) and the officer also suggested calling back some other time. I didn't get a sense of responsibility from him whatsoever.

I just hope no one is naive enough to fall for Keren Parulan Lavarez's ridiculous tricks. I wouldn't count on the NBI/police in Manila helping you when it's too late.
