I got contacted by this very same person (although now she uses a different email address: [email protected] and has a different story). Instead of a wedding it is her father's 60th birthday party.

First she contacted me requesting a quote so I asked for a little more information, standard question like attendance and location of event. She gave me the attendance and a little event info but refused to give me the location.
There are just too many red flags here. Her English was pretty bad. She clearly had no idea what my photography company was called (even though my website is listed in my email address [[email protected]]). She instead promised to give me the event location after I provided her with info. This is not a standard practice when dealing with clients. Instead she asked for personal info including the following:

"Name to be written on the payment
Mailing address , No p.o.box [CLEAR RED FLAG- why would this matter for sending a check]
Phone Number (Mobile Number)
City
Zip Code
State"

So (giving her the benefit of the doubt) I replied by giving her a phone number (my google voice number) and telling her to call me at her earliest convenience to discuss the details. I haven't heard from her since, as she hasn't called yet.

My conclusion: Fishing scam.
