About a year ago I signed up for a magazine subscription with undue phone coercion, with the promise of many benefits, but cancelable within a time frame. Many attempts were made to cancel to no avail. I finally paid the $119.88, and as magazines came, most of which I did not order, I cancelled directly with the merchants. Now as of Feb. 5, 2014, there are two charges of $30.47 each on my Bank of America Visa. The phone number for My Magazine Club (888-882-5545) is unresponsive. While I did not authorize a continuation of this subscription, the bank tells me that I must cancel with them directly. I have canceled the credit card since I consider this fraud, and the bank has agreed not to pay this merchant until issue is resolved.
