A nice young lady came to my door this evening and explained that she was trying to win a trip to Italy and I could help by earning her some points. She seemed very knowledgeable about the information she was giving me, and I even let her into my home. As she was telling me about the program, she pulled out a receipt and asked for a donation for a predetermined amount, and said that this would go towards books for children who were in the hospital. Thinking I was helping a good cause, I wrote her a check. After she left, I thought I would check Google and see what this Italy program is all about, and of course, it's a scam.
Update: 02/22/2014
Rather than risking the chance of sending a cancellation request and never seeing my money again, I went ahead and put a stop payment request in with my bank.
