In 2008 I went on craigslist to purchase a car. I contacted Mr. Gossett, he presented himself as a private individual just selling his car which was a Honda Accord Station Wagon. He brought the car with another man by and gave me a warranty and said I should drive the car and bring it back to him if there was anything. At this time he did not even give me the title to the car but instead a photocopy of another title. I was young and it was my first time purchasing a car. I made many mistakes dealing with this man but long story short. The car was a lemon which he knew because he had tried to sell it to several people before me but I happened to get suckered into it. I barely had the car a day when I returned to give him his car as he had said the day before. Now he changed his tune and said he would fix it instead. Well eventually in the course of his fixing it he calls me to tell me he's blown the engine and will issue me a refund less $500 for his expense in the transaction. I had been dealing with him for over a month by this point and I was frustrated so I agreed. I went to his dealership that time at 1579 Sewells Pointe Rd Norfolk. Where Diane issued me 3 post dated checks in the amounts of 500. I took the checks and cashed one. Kraig called me for the title to the car which was still in my name and because I had dealt with him and I knew he was capable of doing unorthodox things I told him I would need to keep it until the transaction was completed. He screamed profanities at me on the phone and threatened me. After this I tried to cash the checks but in fact the checks bounced. I have tried to sue Mr. Gossett in small claims court several times and have gone to the Norfolk police. Unfortunately he seems to be quite familiar with the system and knows how to get out of being served, since it is a civil issue the police told me they cannot do anything about it. This is my last resort and I just want to know if there is anything I can do about this issue.
