I placed an order for £4.95 on 1/2/14' I checked to total to be debited before I confirmed. On 3/2 I noticed there was a huge difference between my account balance and funds available to called my back Lloyd's TSB. The advisor confirmed three separate amounts were in clearing to a company I'd never heard of. I asked him to stop the payments but was informed he couldn't do anything until the funds had cleared from my account.
I called on 5/2 once they'd left and was told I needed to raise a dispute for goods not received, which I did.
I noticed on 7/2 that three smaller separate amounts had be debited from my account (even though I was told these would be blocked going forward) As the goods had arrived during this time I was informed I could no longer raise a dispute.
I called Lloyd's again on 13/2 questioning what was happening, I was told nothing going forward! Apparently this is not fraud because I entered my debit card details, I used an example of being over charged for something in Topshop and was told that this wouldn't be fraud either!
I was a senior bank manager for a number of years and am well aware that on my first phone call to Lloyd's they could have and should have stopped my payments.
I am also penalised for using a debit card as it offers no protection (we'll forgive me for trying to be responsible.
I have made countless phone calls to the company, based in America and written countless emails.
As soon as I am sure I won't be getting the mail in order rebate, I shall be closing my bank account as my treatment has been absolutely terrible. I am also complaining to the Financial Ombudsman regarding these so called 'banking standards'.
