    • Toyota usa Complaint / User Submitted Image #311920

I am asking if there is something we can do about the UGLY dashboard cracks in my recent purchase of a 2006 Toyota Avalon.(1 Month) There were a couple there already but in a month 3 new ones have formed, and continually getting worse. Spreading and more pooping up seems everyday. In my opinion this is unacceptable quality from Toyota, and will make me think twice about buying another toyota or any car from Deluca in the future. I asked before and was told that Toyota will do NOTHING. There a literally THOUSANDS of complaints for this same issue on the same model around these years. I understand this is a used car but there are NUMEROUS complaints about this issue and you are also aware of it.
Please help us in this regard......Thank you

RESPONSE FROM DEALER:

Dear Mr. Bedell,

My name is Michelle McHenry. I am the Customer Relations Manager at DeLuca Toyota. I sent you a reply to your email last week, but it looks like you never opened it. I wanted to make sure to respond to your latest email, as you have made it apparent that you are displeased with our dealership because of the cracks in the dashboard of your 2006 Avalon. I am very sorry that you are having this problem, but I feel that I have to let you know that while DeLuca Toyota is not responsible for the cracks, we will be happy to offer you an explanation and a possible solution.
This issue with cracks in vehicles that are more than several years old is actually quite common to every make and model, especially here in Florida. The sun and heat here are very intense. Many people think that using a product like Armor All on a dashboard will help to protect it, when it can actually cause and exaggerate damage from the sun and heat. The issues that you are referring to on the Avalons is occurring in the 2010 and 2011 models, not 2006. Therefore, the issue with your dashboard was most likely caused by the former owner, not Toyota and most certainly not our dealership. We appreciate that you have done business with us, and will offer to help you with this problem. While we cannot replace your dashboard, we can arrange for you to get the dash repaired by one of the contractors that we use, for OUR cost, not retail. We will be happy to arrange that for you. Please let me know if you would like us to set that up. I will be happy to assist you!

Sincerely,
Michelle
