Showcase Management are running an ad "urgently requiring extras for upcoming productions". They then ask for a fee to establish a profile on a casting site specified by them which after doing little research found to two to be linked by name. They are covering themselves quite well by not taking money through the talent agency who can only charge 10% commission on work found through them, and having it paid through Castings & Auditions (the specified host) After contacting numerous local production companies, none have heard of them. I even had a negative response from the person at Village Roadshow where Showcase claimed most of their in house work world be. When I first applied, I received a response the very next day, but now that I have sent a complaint to them, I haven't heard anything for a week. I contacted the job website www.seek.com.au and reported the ad as misleading, but it reappeared again on the 17th. They are frivolously recruiting with little promise of actual jobs. All the "recent work" the claim to have cast talent for is outdated and tied to the now defunct Blackbox Management which is also tied to the same names discovered through historical database research. I've got the ACCC, the Office of Fair Trading and Gold Coast City Council Business Liaison Officer for the Film Industry all following up on the matter... And they don't charge for the service.
