This hotel/guesthouse advertised as a Mayrhofen area hotel. We booked and paid for our room and upon arrival we found that the hotel was not in Mayrhofen but was about a 40 minute drive up in the Alps. We attempted to make the drive but the roads were iced over and we did not have chains on our car.

AT NO TIME did this hotel inform us that they were at a high altitude, on a remote mountain road and that we should order chains when we took our rental car.

We tried to make the best of it and hired a taxi (20 Euro) and left our car in the valley. Upon arrival at the hotel, they would not let us in because we were later than their "regular check in time."

Nowhere in their booking information nor on their website did they list that there was no option for late check in. They rate themselves as a 3 star hotel. 3 stars REQUIRES 24 hour check in.

We returned to the valley and took a 150 Euro hotel room. The following morning we tried to call this hotel to make new arrangements but the owner did not speak English and hung up the phone on us. We called again and again but they wouldn't answer.

We decided to cut our losses and took a new hotel in the valley.

They charged our credit card and when we filed a dispute with the credit card company, they lied and said that we never showed up.

I received the email from the bank after I disputed my credit card:

Subject: Dispute verification and status

Mr. Justin Baty,

Your claim has been denied. You have 60 days following this notice to file an appeal....
