I got a text from someone claiming to want to purchase my item for sale on Craigslist. The number was 914-295-6450. He literally copied and pasted my Ad title into the text asking if it was still available. I responded yes and he stated:
"Ok good...let me have your paypal email address so that I can make the payment now and the picking up of the item (not furniture) can be arranged by my shipping agent. Thanks."

I was excited and gave him my email. He said:
"I will make the payment now and let you know when I am done"

I waited a few minutes and received this message:

"I have made the payment into your paypal account. I'm sure you will have seen my payment confirmation from paypal so check your email inbox or junk. Let me know when you see it."

I wait and refresh and after no payment update, I check my email and receive another text:

"Have you seen my payment confirmation?"

I did in fact receive it. It was from a Richard Wilson, a "paypal representative" in charge of my transaction with Fierro asking for a reply to his message with:

The money transfer control number:
The sender's name:
The sender's address:

Why? Because he was asking me to Western Union $300 to be paid to the shippers before I could receive my payment. I have received paypal emails and none have the registered sign in them and they all address me by my name, not by my email address. I replied back to Fierro saying a Richard Wilson responded but there was no confirmation of payment. He responded with:

"what are you asked to do?"

I told him the email was asking for an MTCN number and $300. His response?

"Ok..when are you doing that?" *major red flag here

I googled all these words: MTCN, paypal and the first thing that comes up is a Craigslist scam. I responded via text with a link to that article.
