This person also called me to place a Mary Kay order. Claimed she was deaf and could not work with any local consultants. Told her not a problem, I'd be happy to place an order for her. Then she tells me she needs to send money to her daughter who is getting married (sound familiar???), but the place she sends money thru will only allow her to send one check. Uh huh....Red warning flags rising!! When I asked her for her address to save her the time and money of sending me a check, she told me she lived in Florida. I LIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE PEOPLE!!! She can't find any local consultants in the whole frigging state of Florida and she wants to work with someone 5000 miles away..... I did a little digging. Yes, if you take this person's check, and your bank doesn't recognize it as fraudulent they'll cash it for you. By law, they have to release the funds to you within 2-3 days. Then, being the nice person you are, you send her daughter the money for her wedding. But wait... when they find out the check is fake, guess who the bank is gonna come looking for to get there money back from... YOU!!!
Please people be careful!! Unless this is a trusted family member or dear dear friend that you completely trust, do not get sucked into this scam!!!
