On 10/13/11 a man by the name of Mark Williams from Kansas City, Mo. with whom I had been in contact with for 4-6 weeks on google.com and who went to Ghana in South Africa for business, requested my assistance in purchasing a laptop computer for him and sending it to him in Ghana via Fed. Ex. Foolishly, I did purchase a Toshiba laptop and sent it to him with the assurance that upon his return home he would send me a check for the amount spent. The computer was mailed to the manager of the hotel he was staying at: Mr.Edwin Kennedy, received and given to Mr. Mark Williams. 10 days later, Mr. Williams was involved (?) in an auto accident on his way to the airport for his return home and both he and his son were taken to the hospital in Ghana.
Subsequently, he asked me if I could send a package of some American foods since neither he nor his son could tolderate the African food any longer. At this point I told him I could not do this despite the fact that he gave me the name of the hospital and suggested he was using me and trying to take advantage of my good nature. I have copies of all conversations and receipts for the purchases and shipping costs I incurred. I asked him to stop making requests and to decline from sending me further emails or having conversations with me on google until payment was made.I have written to him several times and requested the money he owed me be sent to me immediately. No response.
I now believe this man scammed me. I have his address and phone number, but cannot make contact with him and need help in recovering the money I have spent.
