When candling eggs on arrival some had already showed signs of development indicating incubation before shipping. Others were just too old. We only had a 11% hatch rate with professional hatchers and overnight shipping (only 3 out of 25 hatched and one was really weak). I was aware that the eggs were older when I purchased them but I learned later through communication with Heirloom Orpingtons (previously known as Hardin Poultry)that they were 'testing' the sale of old eggs to see if they would continue to sell them in the future. I also learned that the eggs were older then what they made it seem on their Facebook post and they were partially incubated which after shipping they were no longer good. After I contacted them in regards to the extremely low hatch rate I requested just a few replacement eggs. I haven't heard from them since. It was very obvious through communication that they were avoiding my questions and telling my anything to feel like it was my fault the eggs did not hatch. I even provided them detailed information from the hatcher so they could use the information for future decisions about selling these old eggs. As a business owner myself I know that information like that can be very valuable.

I bought these eggs from Heriloom Orpingtons but I wish I would have known about the name Hardin Poultry...so many bad reviews. :(
