This company just mailed a collection notice to my parents' address. They are attempting to collect on an outstanding debt from 15 years ago. I have two problems with this. One, I filed bankruptcy 4 years ago and this debt was included in the bankruptcy. In fact, the original debtor attempted to sue me. I retained an attorney, filed for a continuance, gathered all my outstanding bills and filed for bankruptcy. I was granted the bankruptcy and never had to pay the original debtor a penny! Haha i win! And now, a decade and a half later they are trying to collect? Hmmmm. Im pretty sure thats not legal and i will be forwarding this letter to my attorney ASAP. My other problem is that this debt isnt even collectable after this many years. The statutes have run out. Had they pulled my credit report they would have seen the big fat bankruptcy. I would really like to ask my attorney how we can nail this company's ass to the wall. Im bored and it sounds fun! BTW the bankruptcy was the best thing I have ever done for myself. My credit is building so quickly and I have not paid a bill late in 5 years. Please note my bankruptcy was due to medical bills, not irresponsible spending. The end!
