I purchased a pendant at this Jewellery store as a gift for my Wife for our Wedding Anniversary. At the time I explained to the Shop Assistant that I needed the pendant to be able to fit onto my Wife's 4mm Omega Chain, that she already had. I was a bit unsure whether the opening of the pendant I had selected would fit, but was assured by the Shop Assistant, who is actually the Assistant Store Manager, that if it didn't fit, I could bring it back. I was very specific with her that the only reason I was buying this pendant was for it to go on the Omega Chain, and therefore if it wasn't suitable I would be bringing it back. The Assistant Store Manager assured me this wouldn't be a problem. It didn't fit over the clasp of the Omega Chain and was therefore not suitable. I returned to the store two days later and was offered a solution by the Assistant Store Manager of sending the pendant off to their Jeweller to have it altered to expand the opening of it so that it would fit over the clasp of the Omega Chain. We were happy to accept that solution, but didn't want to leave the Omega Chain and the Pendant with them that day as my Wife wanted to wear her Omega Chain over the weekend. We promised to bring the Omega Chain and the Pendant back a few days later so that it could be sent off to their Jeweller to be altered. When I returned to the Store to drop it off for alteration, I was served by the Store Manager and then told they couldn't alter it as it would affect the diamond setting in the Pendant, so my only option was to buy another, more expensive Pendant, as they had no others for the same price. The Store Manager refused to give me a store credit, refused to send it off to the Jeweller to be altered and refused to refund my money. I argued that the Pendant does not serve the purpose for which I purchased it and I was assured before purchase that I would be able to return it if it didn't fit the Omega Chain. In my opinion the Store Manager is taking an incorrect stand in this matter and I will be taking this further. Although she assured me it won't bother her because she is leaving on the 16th of June. I'm not sure if this is the way Zamels train their staff or if this bad attitude and level of customer service just applies to the Belmont store but I will be sure to never buy anything at Zamels again and will tell as many people as possible of my bad experience.
