I was searching for a place to rent in Los Angeles, CA on apartments.com and I saw this one bedroom and a woman named Julie Meehan reached out to contact me. She told me the rent process was through airbnb and that I had to make a deposit of $500, she sent me a link of a website that looks exactly like the Airbnb one, she was super quick to reply to my emails previous to the payment. I had to buy an iTunes gift card and send pictures of it and my personal information so she could forward it to airbnb, including a copy of my passport. As soon as the payment was confirmed, she disappeared. I had a bad feeling about it and after a lot of emails without a reply I decided to google her name and saw all those other complaints.
