I have now received 26 calls going back 2 1/2 months about a government grant for between $7K and $9K that I do not have to pay back. I have received up to 4 calls in one day alone. They have been diverse in their scam from being picked because I paid my taxes on time to being a "good citizen" whatever that means. I've asked if they are federal government employees which they always say yes and and I asked them many questions that they never seem to be able to answer such as "What is your federal pay grade". They usually respond with either a lot of profanity or threats about being sued and owing them money. I have called authorities who all say that they received hundreds of complaints monthly, both in Florida and in VT where i live. They say that they can do nothing about them because their was no physical harm and because I havent sent them any money. A retired State trooper friend told me if the US mail is involved in any way, either they send you a letter or check or ask you to mail them something then you should report it to the Post Master in your town as they are Federal authorities and have more abilities then local and state. I'm only filling out this complaint because a family friend in Florida did loose a couple hundred dollars. I have tried to call them back but always reach a number that "cannot accept incoming calls" or "cannot be answered" I have started trying to waist their time such as asking them to hold and every 30 sec or so yelling in the background to hold on or I'm almost their and at one point after 10 minutes told them that I was working with investigators and prosecutors and traced their call. They always go to profanity and threats when cornered. In reference to the family friend in Cocoa Fl, I tried to look up the routing number that was on the check and it does not exist nor the bank name given. The address on the envelope was from California yet the address they asked the money to be sent to was in the midwest, I thing Illinois.
