I received a letter and a cashier's check from RS Consulting Group today...I figured it was a scam because it really was too good to be true and after doing a company search I could not find anything. The cashier's check was drawn on Wells Fargo and since I had an account there, I called to verify the account was legitimate. I was told yes it is and I should have no problem cashing the check. My thought was cash the check and in the event it is no good it won't go against my account. I took it to the bank and attempted to cash it and was told that the check was indeed fake...Obviously I kinda figured. They took the check and made me feel like I was doing something wrong trying to cash it. I obviously called first to make sure it was good and was told by their (Wells Fargo) 800 number that it was and that was the only reason I attempted to cash it. Obviously in the future they will find my shredder if I can't prove that the secret shopper company actually exists.
