Two guys came to my door and talked about earning points to go off to Europe. They earned points by being able to sell a certain amount of books because each book was a different amount of points. Stupidly, I believed that the funding would go to the Childrens Hospital in my area. I wrote a check for one and then the other guy said I didn't give him one, but he told me that I could call this number to cancel the check. RIGHT when they left I called the number and it didn't work. I wish I chased after them to get my checks back, but it was too late. I called my bank to put a stop-payment, but I am concerned that they will still have my account number and have the chance to take my money. I hope that when they try to deposit it, the bank will take the check and tear it up. If they hold on to my check even after the 180 day period, they can still withdraw money from my account. I wish this had replies of others with similar situations.
