When I balanced my checkbook 11/18/11, I noticed a transaction for $.01 from CC Global. The image was an e-check using my husband's name without his middle initial. The address was somewhere 2 hours away. When I called the number (1-866-853-6797) listed on the e-check, the woman from CC Global said this was an online purchase made from an adult website. She said CC Global is a payment processing center that has been in business 3 years. She said she would refund our penny, but it would take 3-5 business days for the transaction to go through. She said they would delete our information from their system. She also told me that if I reported this to the police department or to my bank to file an investigation, it would be against the law since I would already be getting my penny refunded.
I did contact my bank and completed the fraud paperwork. I did talk with my local police officer and filed a police report. We also closed that bank account and opened a different account to avoid the possibilities of more fraudulant activity.
Today my banker called me with helpful information. Another customer had a similar situation where a penny was taken from her account and she determined there was a security issue with her mortgage company, Everhome Mortgage. I also pay my mortgage online with Everhome Mortgage. I will be contacting Everhome Mortgage to report this fraudulant activity so they can investigate the situation from their end.
