I went on vacation to Florida and had prepaid for a rental car thru Budget Rentals online. When I arrived, the customer service agent asked me if I wanted to purchase insurance for $40. I asked him if that was per day or for the week (entire rental time). He mumbled and quickly answered, "that's for the whole time." Because he mumbled and was trying to rush me, I asked him again. And then again - for a THIRD time. When he said it was $40 for the entire time, I signed up for it. Big mistake. It was over $40 per day. When I went to read my printout, it was illegible - the printer was an older kind and the toner caused lines to go through some wording, while other wording was cut off. The insurance cost almost more than the entire rental car was worth. The car was dirty and the gas tank wasn't properly filled. Then, when I received a bill for an additional $480, I was irate. I called Budget and explained the situation. They told me there was nothing they could do except they advised me to call the manager in Florida directly. When I called and asked for the manager, I was told he would call me back. He never did. I tried on four separate occasions. Needless to say - I will NEVER EVER use Budget Rental Car again and I will make it a point to tell everyone else to never EVER use them either. What a complete scam and rip-off. The guy behind the counter out and out lied to me. He should be fired, and I certainly should have received a partial refund, if not a full one.
