I called a music supply store to purchase a guitar amp for my son. I saved the monies and had to wait till I got paid on 12/26/11 to afford the Amp. The number I called was 1-800-458-4076 ( the music supply store number) I immediately was offered a $100.oo gift certificate for being one of the first 25 customers to call ( I thought I was talking to the music supply store). I thought this was a promotion. The man with a east india accent named Bryan ( should have been my first clue) said I will recieve a $100.00 certificate to walmart or best buy for a one time processing fee of $2.95. I gave my CC # and was transfered to a supervisor for verification. I was instructed not to talk during the verification proces s , only to answer yes to all of the questions. The recording went on to sign up for 4 offers with recurring charges to my CC ranging from $9.99 to 39.99 monthly. I spoke up and said that I wanted to end this and did not agree to this offer. The supervisor came on the phone and blasted me for talking and even cursed me saying that she had my CC # and would charge it and there was nothing i could do about it. I stayed o the line and got the confirmation #. She said that after the recording she would answer any questions I had. at the end of the recording the phone went dead. I imediately caled my bank and canceled the card. I am stuck with a $2.95 charge. My advice is when calling a 1-800 number, do not accept an offer for a $100.00 dollar gift certificate from assist-123. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. I chalk it up to a learning experience.
