I received a dialogue window on my desktop stating that i needed to upgrade my antivirus. I thought that it was a routine annual upgrade, as the software that came up was identical to what i had before. the software that came up on my desktop was called win 7 antivirus 2012. all of a sudden my laptop started coming up with warning messages, telling me to buy the antivirus or risk irreversible damage to the laptop. win 7 antivirus 2012 wouldnt let me close anything. in effect, it had taken over my laptop. I thought an actual virus had affected my laptop, so i processed a payment of $59.95. as soon as i had done that, i was able to use the computer again, and i searched win 7 antivirus 2012 in google. it turns out it was rogue program, a trojan horse, designed to get peoples debit card details when they process a payment for their software. i immediately got rid of the "software" i had bought, and i cancelled the debit card that I had used for the payment. 2 days ago, £39, or approximately $59.95 went out of my bank to a company called monstrocloud.
