We signed a five year contract with Konica Minolta in August of 2006 for the lease of a copier machine for 363.00 a month. They then turn the contract over to De Lage Landen, a finance company. We had numerous problems including rate increases that were unexplained (up to the recent 461.00 per month), check for payment that were cashed but then were listed as not received with appended late charges, charges for copies supposedly made (thousands of them) when the machine was not functional etc. We had to get a lawyer involved to straighten it all out. We couldn’t wait to finish out the contract. Then in October of 2010 they wanted to charge us for a full year service contract. I replied that we did not intend to renew the contract, and could they prorate the service contract to cover the remaining months. They refused, and we ended up paying six months on a machine that wasn’t functioning since I wasn’t going to pay extra months. By June we had told them we were not renewing (again) and in August they claimed that the contract was not up until October. I had a signed copy of the contract, so I requested proof from them. Many calls later, In October, they finally send a copy of a delivery date for the machine which is for October. I couldn’t remember five years back, and the signature for receipt of the machine was supposedly mine, but was clearly signed by someone else. It doesn’t even look close to my signature. However my lawyer said it would probably be less trouble to pay the extra money and be done. I did, and send them a letter telling them how unhappy I was about the whole thing. Then they contact me several months later, saying that unless I notified them that I was not renewing the contract that it would automatically renew, and that I now owed for three more months!!!! I want out. These people are thieves, and the small print on their contract isn’t even readable. I had so many conversations saying that I wanted out that I can’t believe their duplicity. Help!!!
