I had purchased a cell phone service from AT&T for two of my grand daughters. They are 15 and 17 years old. The fifteen years old one was asked by her mother why her phone bill was a little over $1000. She became scared and was afraid she was going to jail after her mother explained it to her. She called me and asked me what to do. I told her to bring me the bill and I would see what was going on. Once I looked at the bill I knew exactly what was going on because the same thing had happened to a few years ago. I checked her phone and there were n0 records of this number, One call was billed for 122 minutes.

I called AT&T and asked for an explaination. I was told that all the calls had generated from her number and she was responsible for them. I explained to them what they had done to my grand daughter and was told business is business. I asked them if they could pull the records up and see what was going on. The customer service rep told me that the calls had not been answered but they were still legally billed.

I was transferred to customer service to make arrangements to pay the bill which I did. However, I am hoping if I get in contact with the right people it will cost them a lot more than they got out of me. The really sad part was they traumatized an underage kid who already has a few problems. She didn't even have international roaming listed a phone program on the contract. I think this is sick to do this to a teenager (15 years old) who was just starting to get adapted to the divorce of her father and Mother.
