My laptop was locked up, I could not do anything on it and I had a message telling me that it was infected with a virus. The page populating this message is identical to that of the Microsoft Security Essentials ( I have pictures to prove it) so I did not think anything of the offers with different packages that would rid the laptop of the virus and offer protection for a year. As I could not do anything at all anyway other than accept one of the agreements and because I thought I was purchasing a Microsoft product I went ahead and purchased the 1 year package. Since I was a bit leery about the transaction, I monitored my credit card transaction online and the very next day I had a charge from this company. My Issuing bank stated I had to wait until they settled the transaction. Once they did they initiated a Dispute on my behalf however that was resolved in the Merchants favor since I authorized the transaction (I entered the CVV code).
I have asked my Issuer to do a representment of the dispute however I doubt I will ever recoup the lost funds.
After insisting my Issuer has informed me that the Merchant is in Russia. Their address is 31A V. Khoruzhey Street Minsk, Belaruf 220002.
Furthermore, my laptop still does not work. It does not have the pop up message but I cant do anything in it.
