UkCorporator is a real company (I think) that hires out to people online. Right after this company was sending out hiring emails for students at my university, another guy came in with the exact same pitch through emails. The first was Professor Hackney and his email address was [email protected]. This may have been legit or not, I don't know.
The second guy came around and he was posing as the American version of UK Corporator. They ask for your address and send you a fedex envelope with a check in it. I have a few names with which I was hit.
One was Andy Collins who was the gmail initiator. [email protected]. The next was pen names that s/he used. Andy Collins, Frank Adams.
I then received my check from Lindsay Vargas: (Personal Info Removed). Address: (Personal Info Removed).
I was required to deposit the check and wire $250 via Western Union to Dylan Thomas Address: (Personal Info Removed)

Now I don't know if the person who sent me the email was trying to scam Dylan, knowing his fake check wouldn't be accepted by the government or what, so he can't justifiable say is involved. I don't know if names used are real or not, but if I were a cop, I'd start there.

  • I've had the same exact email as well! I got them at the beginning of the month, and i thought some extra christmas cash! But then it started looking sketch, and i didn't hear from them for a week, so I thought oh well. Well then i recieved a check for $3600.00 in the mail yesterday. "S/He" wants me to deposit it ASAP. Is it all fake? like did you get paid at all? And I'm guessing that i shoudn't deposit it, no matter if i need the money.

  • Yeah, there is an actual corporation that will go around and be legit with their program. You need to check and make sure who the email address is from. There are several hacked university email addresses that don't get caught for spam because they're allowed to send out multiple emails at a time. Make sure the email address is from the actual corporation and not from someones name. Thats a dead give away. I've actually received several emails that have spam content. I've emailed the people asking for more information, and especially if they're impersonal and the emails are incomplete, you know its a spam. The scam posted here is the only one that I've actually received a check from. I've never followed through with another email job offer. I can't trust them anymore.
