Found ad for 2004 Nissan Maxima for $2,900. I was wary about it because i know it is worth 12k. However, this person e-mails me with some story about being in the military and being shipped out again, so I started to believe it was real. Sent several emails to this person who is arranging to sell it to me through ebay (which also made me feel better because of their protection program.) However, I still had a weird feeling so I googled the ad and apparently tons of other people have gotten scammed on the same vehicle, same list price, and same B.S. story about being in the military. Luckily I caught it, because I was about to pay the person today. (however, I am smart enough to know only to use PayPal transactions.)

I will contact eBay today or tomorrow and open a case for us and declare you as buyer. They will inform you what are the next steps in order to complete the transaction. I will let you know as soon I will make this happen..

As i told you, at this moment I am in WA state in a military base, getting ready for Afghanistan (I hope for the last time). I do a special training program everyday day and I am not allowed to get out of the unit or make calls whenever I want.   • Always beware of this sort of posting. You see it a lot on craigslist too where people are renting homes or cars and are out of town or the country, etc. If that doesnt send up a red flag, then nothing will. Ebay doesnt inspect cars either. They are an auction site. NEVER send money to anyone you cant meet personally. You can try to report them to the FCC. Maybe they can help. But in the future, warning signs should always be: not available to be there when you see the car, or they are out of the state or country for whatever reason... Good luck to you.

  • Do not do it!!!!! I am talking back and forth with the same "person" in regards to a 2004 Honda CR-v. And wouldn't you know it the Carfax report matches exactly. look at the recall section, it tells you to contact an authorized Acura dealer to check. Would say Nissan or Honda if it were legit. Save all of your conversations. I have and I have also taken screen shots of the real carfax and the fake one. If we can find more people that may get scammed we can get this person. They removed all listings of their ads almost immediately after I sent the first email. I am in the Military so I had all kinds of questions to ask and "she" just ignored them.

  • I was gong to purchase a 2004 Toyota Camry XLE for $2700 in Florida. I got the same BS e-mails to the t. The add was flagged and reported to Craigs List as Fraud.

  • lol. This is amazingly funny that I happened across this site with a simple Google search of COL Amanda Turner. I'm going to post some of the "conversations" that I had with her below. You may have seen the phrasing before with the vehicle you were looking at and maybe different dates. I wonder if all of us are enough to convict this "COL" of fraud? I wonder if they can track her through the emails that "she" has sent? Whatever the case, I'm not partaking. She hasn't sent an email back ever since I told her that I'll fly to where the car is to pick it up. This was an 04 Honda Civic with 40k miles for $2,800. If it looks too good to be true, be skeptical and go with your gut feeling. I'm glad there is a board like this for people to share their similar stories.
