I had gone to goodyear for a oil change as i have been doing the past 6yrs but this time was different. After the oil change he said i owed 52.95 for the oil change and the tire rotation, and i had informed him that the tire rotation was free since i bought my 4 new tires there and that my oil change was only 19.95. He said he was sorry that he was looking at the wrong screen then walked into the back and in a short minute he came out and said that i needed a new battery, that the one i had was reading near 0, amps and the required reading on a new battery would read 750amps. Trusting them because i have been taking my car there for 6yrs i said ok.
He had told me that the new battery would be there on saturday so i said ok made a appointment and went on my way hoping that my car would make it until the next day, I did not want to take any chances so i stoped at advance auto and told him that goodyear had just told me that i needed because the one i had was reading 0amps,the rep from advance said let me get his metor so he could check the battery, so we went out and he checked the battery and said sir your battery is great that it was reading 680amps there is nothing wrong with your battery,keep in mind that i had already told him i was told that goodyear had told me i needed a new battery,he could have said goodyear was right and i would have bought a battery ,but it was nice to see that advance auto have people with integerty. I went home and called goodyear what had happen and they said that the man servicing may had just made a mistake,i told him know because he went back to double check, and i was going to tell all my friends that goodyear were telling customers that there car was in need of a repair when in reality there was nothing wrong.
I then called the complaint office of goodyear hoping to expose the unneeded repairs that where offer me and guess what they said that they can do that it is up to me if i go ahead with the service, i said even if i dont need the service , again he said that it up to me to make that dicission. I said i am trusting that the repair and service is need going on the word of your representive, again they said it is up to me to make that decission. So that is why i am asking you to make aware that these shops work on a commision base pay the more work they can make up if you need it or not the more commision they make.\
