March 3, 2012: Called a Palm Springs, CA cell phone number from a pay phone in the Golden Nugget Resort and Casino in Laughlin. There was no answer so left a message. The total length of the call was maybe 1 to 2 minutes. In making the call, followed the instruction for making a call with a credit card which was dial 0 + area code + number. Had to give the credit card number to complete the call.
The next day March 4, 2012 made another call from the same pay phone using the same procedure but this time was intercepted with an operator. Indicated to the operator that we did not want an operator assisted call and told him that we would make the call ourselves as we had done the day before. After terminating the conversation with the "interceptor" we were able to complete the call to another home number in Palm Springs, CA, this time reaching the party of interest and having a conversation that lasted less than 3 minutes.
March 5, 2012: Checking my credit card account today, I noticed a charge of $51.93 presumably for the telephone service. This is a completely outrageous charge for using the pay phone.
