I recently googled "register to vote" so I could register myself to vote in the next election.
The first website that popped up was "registertovote.org" which seemed legitimate enough so I put in my information such as full name, e-mail, phone number, address and last 2 digits of my social security number, and then waited to get the registration form.
In the meantime, it asked me to answer a few questions about my political opinion, which seemed strange, but i did, and then it gave me the option to download my registration form, but when i tried, I couldn't open it. It was a pdf file, but it couldn't be opened for some reason, and it said the file is damaged or something.
I then tried to contact the website, whose only contact information was an e-mail address "[email protected], but a few minutes later I got an e-mail that the e-mail address does not exist.

I am very worried that I gave out my information like that, and that I may have acted a bit recklessly, but it was an honest mistake for someone who has never voted/registered before, and had no idea what the process is like.
I've been getting a lot of spam since, which doesn't get filtered into the the spam box. This never happened to me with my gmail account. i have a suspicion this might be a case of identity theft, so i need help.
