I purchased a onetime vehicle history one a car I was buying. I approved a $2.95 charge, however if you read the "Secured Order Form" disclaimer it says along with the vin number history you are requesting you also get to "Evaluate our service" and if after 7 days you don't call to cancel the service you are automatically enrolled in their "Deluxe membership" which allows the customer to perform 4 searches a month for two easy payments of $29.95 per month. When I noticed the charge of $29.95 from "propertyhousevalue.com" on my account I immediately searched for a phone number to dispute the charges. This was not an easy search because I didn't make the connection between the two companies (all by design I'm sure) I called and was not surprised to get a foreigner on the phone which took her about 5 minutes to type in my name and email address. I explained to her the situation and she very kindly explained she would cancel my subscription and gave me a cancellation code and hung up on me before I could insure I would be getting a full refund. I called back to get a male foreigner who’s English was a little better. I told him the situation and he said he could only offer me a 50% refund and was not authorized to do any better. After going back and forth about wanting to talk to someone who could reverse the full charge for about 10 minutes he finally wore me down to the point that I said okay please refund me 50% and lets be done with it. Then I exclaimed I would be reporting their dishonest and unethical practices to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) at which time he said, "Please hold" when he came back after a couple minutes he said his supervisor (the one that was unavailable) has authorized him to reverse the full charges. The moral of the story being - never settle for "good enough" because to be honest it probably cost me more money (my time being worth a lot) to make those calls then to just let it go, but it's the principle that matters - we can't let these swindlers take advantage of us hard working free Americans! I demand better.
