3 people came to my apartment, 2 women and a guy, all around 30. One woman claimed to be my neighbor on the third floor and said these were her coworkers and they were on a work softball team together. They reached the finals in their league and were going off to Sacramento, CA to compete. They needed to raise money to get out to Sacramento and were teaming with this marketing thing...Absolute Marketing...to sell magazines and help them raise money. It all seemed legit to me at first. Then I noticed that the magazines were insanely expensive for a subscription. The lady said they were inflated to help them and their teams and that Absolute also donated to other good causes too. I told her I couldn't afford it but did offer to do a donation (no subscription necessary) and wrote a check for $20.

Then I got online and saw that the whole thing was a scam. I had my bank put a stop payment on the check. Now I hope they don't try to make fraudulent checks from the one that they have of mine.

This took place in Chicago.
