I clicked on a banner promising a free Starbucks gift card and entered my address and telephone number. Next thing I know is I am subscribed to a service that sends SMS messages to my cellphone and charges $10 for every message. They charge you through your cellphone provider (Fido in my case)- the charge is attached to your bill. Spent half a day with Fido and finally unsubscribed from the service. However there is nothing the cell phone provider can do to remove the existing charges from Voxtel. It is impossible to get a hold of Voxtel. Fido transferred me to the company. Here is what happened:
Answering machine: If you want service in English press 1
Me: Pressing 1
Answering machine: Proceeds to a menu in French!!!!...
Anyways, I have spoken to an employee and he said that I should email his supervisor stating that I was scammed by Mobshack and that I want a refund. I am pretty sure that will lead nowhere, but will try anyways.
