I purchased a smart phone from Metro PCS and started service with them. The price for the phone was $349.00 (excluding tax), and a $100.00 mail-in rebate was promised with the purchase of the phone. I sent all the documents I had in my possession that were requested by the rebate form and sent them to Metro PCS in a timely fashion, and Metro PCS refused and continues to refuse to send me the rebate money, saying that my rebate request was "invalid." My written inquiries were ignored, and I later discovered that the store clerk had neglected to give me the proper sleeve that the phone box came in, on which was a multi-level UPC code required for the rebate. The one I had sent with my rebate form was from the box itself, and apparently it was the wrong UPC code, and was, according to a district manager at the local corporate store, the reason for the denial of my rebate request. Nobody at the store, including that district manager, could help me with the problem, and could only refer me to the phone number on the rebate form, which turned out to be only a recording, leaving me unable to speak to a real person about the issue. After the second letter to Metro PCS, I received a $30.00 rebate, which was the amount offered on a later promotion for the same phone, after the phone's price had been reduced by $100.00. After a total of three (3) letters and sending supporting documentation by fax, I still do not have my rebate. I have a feeling that the store clerk deliberately did not include the proper documents for me to claim my rebate because he may have been involved in a scam with the company to receive kick-backs for thwarting attempts by customers to rightfully claim their rebate money.
